Curos® Port Protectors

Curos®Port Protectors (Ivera Medica)l are plastic caps that screw on to the end of the Central Venous Line(CVL) injection cap. The cap contains a sponge soaked with70% Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) which continuously bathes the end of the injection cap in between infusions.

Using Curos® Port Protectors does not take the place of scrubbing the injection cap prior to each connection, but may be one of many interventions that can help reduce CVL infections. We recommend that they be used cautiously in homes with infants and toddlers due to a potential choking hazard.
